my favourite chips
make a stand – oven chips just arent good enough ok so it is easy to whip them outta the freezer – but as long as you have some choirs to do in the house – it is easy to whip up some of the homemade variety homemade skinny fries 3 large potatoes ( this was lots for 2 people ) olive oil ( for cooking ) sea salt & pepper corns i choose some potatoes from my local veg shop – they are from comber, but had no sign of their name etc first a rinsed the earth of the potatoes and gave them a bit of a scrub – i left the skin on – i like it better that way! then i sliced the potatoes – first in half – the into stripes – then cut again to the desired thickness then i put all of the chips into a large bowl – and set them in the sink – i turned on the cold tap and let the water run over them until the water ran clear i used a clean teatowel to dry the chips – before placing them back in the bowl and coating with olive oil – its easiest to stick your hands in at this point tip the chips out onto a baking tray ( i needed two ) and sprinkle with sea salt & black pepper then into the oven with the little fellows! 220c for an hour and a quarter – or until they are cooked through every fifteen minutes or so you will need to take them out and give them a shake about – flipping the little guys over sqidgy on the inside – crisp on the outside and perfect with a scrummy steak
jelly on a plate, jelly on a plate, wibble wobble, wibble wobble, jelly on a plate
i am currently searching for jelly moulds – my search today has many fruits – but what to choose! these little moulds from here are exceptionally sweet – they look like pretty little flowers these pretty pastel moulds from here are super pretty colours and I am loving the classic shape and vintageness appearance the jellys would have out of these this giant jelly baby from here is very cool – and the finished article looks brilliant here – though i am not sure if i would prefer cute little singles….. these incredibly pretty moulds are from here – i just wonder how well the rose would come out these jelly moulds from here have a pull on me as they seem near enough identical to the moulds my mummy used to use when i was little – they are long gone these moulds here are really different and sweet – but have bad reviews for cakes – i wonder if this would effect jelly in the same way…. ahhhhh the choices! hows a girl to choose! the bugs are fun, the roses are beautiful – but i love the traditional moulds too – pity i dont have space for them all
the king of garlic!!!
i recently spotted this garlic during a trip to lidl and they jolted a memory i have of someone explaining to me about a giant garlic clove you can get in lidl – one their mother ( ? ) raves about – because you only have to peel the very outside away!!! – and you are left with a GIANT garlic clove?!?! surely not?!?! but yes! it is a giant garlic clove!!!! – i just peeled back the first layer of skin – and BAM – all garlic!!! – more garlic than you would ever need for a single recipe – in on peeling of a clove! none of this fiddly craziness!! it looks unreal! – can you even begin to understand my joy at not having to peel garlic cloves one by one! it could be sliced, as an onion might be!!! so i did a little hunting to work out what the heck was going on with this garlic! and i found out here ( even though the post is a little aged ) that this wonder was chinese garlic! it is a little bit milder than normal garlic – but because it is harder to save the cloves, i would be inclined to use the whole thing – so this would work well! i think this is going to become a regular on my shopping list! I am looking forward to trying some roasted! xx
