#fdbloggersGTK: Get to Know Day Dreaming Foodie

#fdbloggers is a wonderful community over on twitter run by Loriley. It’s a splendid spot for a natter, with weekly chats & many super tweets to follow via the hashtag. You can see the account here. I highly recommend getting involved with the hour long chats on Thursday evenings at 8pm. Lots of laughs, and plenty to learn to!

The most recent brain child of Loriley is #FDbloggersGTK. A nifty little Q&A that will allow us to get to know each other a bit better. Always a good thing ♥

Blog: Day Dreaming Foodie – Life with Laura

What was your reason for starting a blog?
When I first started blogging I was running a tearoom, and wanted somewhere to record my recipes and daily on goings. You can find that blog here – though I don’t really recommend it! ha! Then once that era of my life came to an end I wanted somewhere new to continue posting recipes and reviews. And after a while www.daydreamingfoodie.com was born!

What’s the dish you are most proud of?
I really love how these Rhubarb and Strawberry Eton Mess’ turned out. I am trying to up my photography game and I was happy with these. AND they taste like sunshine and rainbows – which is awesome. Obv.

What one kitchen utensil could you not live without?
Probably a standard answer – but I love my Kenwood mixer. Perfect for everything, sweet and savoury. And saves my arms from certain aches and pains!
Im also a big fan of all the bits an pieces of pottery we have picked up along the way – along side the many beautiful objects my other half has made for us. They set of a dish in a way plan ol’e white just can’t!

You’re stranded on a desert island. What three ingredients do you take with you?
Butter, garlic & chorizo. Because I am gonna be a master fisherwoman of course! I can taste the langoustines already *licks lips*

Who do you take inspiration from?
Blogs, Instagram, tv shows – but mainly my surroundings. We are spoilt by an array of superb local producers. I don’t need any other inspiration than their love for creating top class products. Be that that extraordinary Dexter and Angus beef from Black Beef, the fresh seafood from Mourne Seafood or the lovely grown and selected fresh fruit and veg from Flavour First – to name but a few! Totally spoilt. And always on the look out for more goodness. What can I say? I’m greedy!

Your favourite social platform?
I will say twitter – but I am slowly falling in love with instagram. It’s a pretty dreamy, inspiring way to spend 1/2 an hour.

Biggest disaster in the kitchen?
I can’t think of any momentous disasters – though there was this one cake…

Favourite spot for coffee?
That’s a hard one. And without wanting to sound like a total bore – my living room is so much fav. And contrary to what you may think, evening time is my favourite coffee time. Early evening coffee on a dark Winters evening. With the wood burning stove fired up and the fluffsters around my feet. Home sweet home!
Though St.Georges Market is up there as a close second though. Big coffee strolling through the treasure….

Favourite food photo you’ve taken?
That’s a tough one. Those Garlic Pinwheels are my favourite go to recipe at the moment, so this photo makes my mouth water. The photo below of a dessert in Petrus earlier this year. Major food memories were created right there. I am still in photo training – though I expect I always will be. The journey is the most fun part, right? *pulls out hair*

What would you say was your most successful blog post and why?
My most successful blog post by a country mile is my Northern Irish Oddities post – which is mainly down to the featuring Fifteens recipe. It’s one of those posts I have always meant to update, or redo but am yet to get round to. Maybe this is the year, cos really…. those photos…. #shockhorror

Now nominate three food bloggers you’d like to get to know more.
Literally ALL of the #fdbloggers have gone and done it well before me! However a certain Miss Emma over at ForkandGood.com is still yet to complete it. I’d love lto learn a little more about one of my favs!

Dont forget to swing by the hashtag #FoodbloggersGTK to find out more about all the lovely folks. And let me know if you decide to do it yourself. I’d love to get to know you all a bit better ♥
