Indulgent Relaxation – Eden Mansion, St Andrews

There is one thing that never fails to seduce me – old school charm.

And old school charm is something Eden Mansion has by the bucket load. This stunning Victorian mansion, dating back to 1860, is a joy to behold. Set back from the road down a sweeping driveway, the picturesque mansion offers a very special place to stay. Top class accommodation isn’t all the property has to offer. The Gatsby bar is a stunning addition, and The Great Dining Room offers a decadent way to dine.

Afternoon Tea at Eden Mansion

On a recent trip to Fife with welcomefife.com I had an opportunity to experience the 5 star luxury for myself. The conference section of our trip was hosted by Eden Mansion – and it suited the occasion perfectly. Not only was it a very comfortable place for our conference, it was also a super spot to enjoy afternoon tea before moving on with the day.

Afternoon Tea at Eden Mansion was a real treat. Sarah and I squirrelled ourselves away into a corner of the dining room; and preceded to snaffle as many sandwiches, scones and ickle cakes as our outfits would allow. 🍰 Bearing in mind that we had started the day with a plate of William Curley chocolates; the small amount remaining on our afternoon tea stand spoke volumes of the quality of the treats. Locally sourced, seasonal produce. What’s not to love?

The kitchen team at Eden Mansion certainly know how to whip up luxurious cakes… and the scones were the best I have had for some time! Only improved by lashings of jam and cream 😍 It is all to easy to spend £19.50 per person on afternoon tea and be underwhelmed. I assure you this would not be the case at Eden Mansion. Also – have the whisky tea… it’s all kinds of great; and somehow makes the experience feel particularly Scottish. I’m going to have to track some down, as the added warmth makes for perfect winter drinking ☕

Old School Charm

There really is something special about this venue. Not only is the property exceptionally beautiful, and the afternoon tea a beauty to behold – but what really lifts this venue above the crowd is the incredible level of service that their staff offer. I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to service. I enjoy the finer aspects of front of house service, and after many years working in the trade I can be an awkward bugger to impress. However the young members of staff that looked after us on our visit couldn’t have hit a finer balance.

Flawless service, but in no way stuffy.  They were visibly relaxed in their style of service – and manage to be perfectly professional, and provide a silver service style of hosting; yet smile and chat, putting you perfectly at ease. 👌🏻 I can only imagine how this complements an overnight stay in the property. I only have one question, when can I move in?

Many thanks to the wonderful team from welcometofife.com for inviting me on a superb press trip to Fife. I had many wonderful experiences over the weekend, that I will be sharing with you over the next few weeks. As always, all content on this blog is my own. I only recommend food and experiences to you that I would recommend to my friends and family.
