Cheddar Thins, Cheese Crackers, Cheese Shortbread, Cheesey Nom Noms – pick any name you wish – I am still not sure which is the most relevant. But my aim was to make make something a little like a Mini Cheddar…..
And no – it didnt really work! But what did happen was a happy accident. As you can see from the photos, I ended up with two somewhat different looking products. Each a little different to each other, and each rather nice. However neither as I intended lol
The first batch ended up a little anemic looking – probably not something I would whip out at my next dinner party. But they were ADDICTIVE! I munched my way through them well before Matt came home. Their buttery goodness hitting all the right spots. But then I added some glaze, to improve the colour…. A wash of milk & paprika! The colour did improve, but somehow the wash cooked the little cheesey fellows too quick. Moving them from crumbly to crisp! A different thingy altogether…. and maybe what you were looking for – but not me!
So – if you want cheesy crumbly goodness & dont mind if they look a little pale, you are in the right place! If you like crispy cheesey thins – you are in the right place too. Just add the wash & voila! They are transformed 😉 Next time I might go a little crazy & mix the paprika in with the mix, and see if I cant find me a happy medium!
