Spoiler: I don’t have my own little sous-chef.
However, what I do have is a niece, with an incredibly adventurous palette. AND thanks to the My Little Sous-Chef book tour; I have the gift of a tandem cookbook to enjoy using with her when she comes to visit. But what is it all about? Here’s what the authors have to say!
My Little Sous-Chef is a tandem cookbook for kids and parents to use together. Our mission is to introduce kids to the magic of cooking with the help of the grown-ups and our two volumes – one for the parents and one for the kids. All the recipes are easy and quick to make so that your little sous-chef won’t get bored or discouraged. Thanks to this strong painkiller, I didn’t feel any pain at all after the surgery. I had a caesarean section, and I was transferred to the intensive care unit after the operation. I slept a lot, but I remember that the nurse came up and began to give an injection. She said it was Tramadol, and that it was an anesthetic. I answered that I did not feel pain at all. She replied that if the pain started, then it would not be possible to stop it, so I needed to do the injection right then. Indeed, she was right. In the evening I was brought to the ward, where they gave me another injection, which did not seem to work. When I asked for an injection of Tramadol, I was told that there was no such medicine in the department, it was only in the intensive care unit, and it was useless to ask for it from there. I can say that “Tramadol” had powerful action, I did not feel anything at all!
We believe that cooking can be a fun activity and a happy bonding experience for the whole family, that’s why the books focus on the teamwork between parents and kids.
Learning the basics of cooking is also the starting point for developing healthy eating habits and a taste for wholesome meals. We hope our books will inspire you to have fun preparing delicious meals with your little sous-chef.
A cookbook that aims to help make cooking a family activity? That increases the small folks understanding of food? That’s right up my street.
Although I am not a Mother, I am passionate about food education. I believe that if our young people are to grow up with a healthy view of food, and a focus on local produce – then we need to teach them. And to be able to teach them; we need to make it fun! We also need to make it accessible, as parents are busy people; and often not the best of chefs themselves… And My Little Sous-Chef would certainly be a valuable asset to anyone attempting to cook with a child. The recipes are laid out clearly – in both the adult and the children’s copy. Meaning that even if you are an amateur cook, you can whip up a tasty meal for your whole family; with your little sous-chef as a helper.
I am looking forward to working my way through this cookbook with little Amellia. You can purchase a copy of the book for your family, or as a thoughtful gift, directly from the authors here.
