mushroom foraging

monday brought a long awaited day for me – a chance to go mushroom foraging – and better yet – with people who know what i can bring home to eat!!

@derekcreagh, @shakeysemple & i packed ourselves into my little car and motored down to Harry’s in Inishowen to meet Donal & Colin – our guides for the day!

after a welcome coffee and quick chat we where whisked off to a secret location – where we were blessed with good weather – for the majority of our walk at least – and a vast array of brilliant examples

 girolles, porcini & winter chanterelles

hedgehog – a slightly sad porcini – me looking terribly happy with my slightly sad porcini – a happy basket full of girolles & winter chanterelles

our day of foraging was rounded off perfectly with some tasty samples & a pint of guinness – before a horrible drive home in the down pour

i can not wait to try out my new skills – even if i am a little nervous!

many thanks to everyone involved – a day spent with friends, new and old  – learning new knowledge is the best way to spend a day

now to set to putting my bounty to good use…. better get those steaks ready 😉 thought the mushrooms on toast for breakfast where pretty fine too…
