My Local Valentines

The Potter & I arent big into Valentines day. After years of working in hospitality, a restaurant broken down into as many ‘romantic’ twos as possible, and great ‘value’ set menu, doesnt really appeal….

But dont be thinking we leave out all romantic gestures – with soooo many options now, there is always a sweet card and a little something for both of us. But this year the Potter really out did himself. With two traditional Valentines day presents, but with thought & love in them both. Showing that he really does listen to my witterings after all!

valentines1

Flowers from Trainview Farm in Ballygowan and chocolates from Norr & Brown in Saintfield – two of my favourite things from two of my favourite places!

Valentines doesnt need to be a massive commercial venture – you can treat it as a good excuse to support a local company! Norr & Brown make all their chocolates on site and Trainview farm, grow their own when they can ( Approx May to Oct ) and support other local growers when they cant. Those beautiful Tulips are grown here in Newtownards – only a short trip down the road! And the Scented Narcissus are from Cornwall, not just so local, but still British. And a damn site closer to home than many a bunch of pretty red roses at this time of year….

Now excuse me while I eat the remaining chocolates & smell my flowers! They are making computer work ALOT easier!

It might be too late to change your ways this Valentines – but with many excuses to splash out on a treat through out the year it is important to remember that local is best! How about some flowers & chocolates for Easter?
