The Christmas Tag

I spotted this tag on MilkBubbleTea last week, and then again on MissBudgetBeauty yesterday – and since Christmas is slowly but surely sneaking up on us, and its nice to see a tag that can apply to all types of blogs – So I thought Id jump on the band wagon

1. What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Ohhhh, this is a hard one for me. I am a big fan of the classics – Miracle on 34th Street being my very fav. However the new influx of Christmas romanitic comedies certainly tick all the boxes for cheesey christmas pressie wrapping fireside evenings. The Holiday & Love Actually get top marks, and their is something about About a Boy that makes me feel all mushy inside too.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve of Christmas morning?

Christmas morning is when it all happens in our household – but like many others, we always get some new cosy pjs from Mum & Dad the night before. And we keep all family pressies ( gifts from my bro & sis ) till after Christmas dinner. Its good to prolong the gift giving ♥

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I honestly have a memory of all Christmas’s being pretty brilliant ( aside from the odd tantrum – obviously not by me lols ) but my very best Christmas memory must be the year my parents bought me my first horse. I had been loaning Levi on and off for the nest part of a year. And the yard had told me he had been sold that December. I was obviously distraught – however when I discovered a saddle in my pile of Christmas pressies I couldnt have been happier. There may have been tears – A LOT of tears….

The Christmas of 2010 rates pretty well for me too – we had an insane amount of snow, and I thankfully had no where to be so I got to enjoy the beautifulness of Field Cottage in the snow, with out having the problem of having to get myself anywhere! Though once the pipes started to freeze we had to jump ship to mum and dads lol

4. Favourite festive food?

ALL OF THE FOOD – yeah Im a little glutton when it comes to festive feasting. But I never seem to be able to fit in as much as Id hope for…. lol However, one thing that does always stand out for me in the curry Mum & Dad make from the left over turkey. That curry just tastes like home to me – and always evokes happy, cosy memories when eaten any other time of the year. Which it seldom does!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

See favourite Christmas memory ⇑ Though I must say my family & friends are generally pretty awesome at gift giving – I am always spoilt ♥

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

The smells of an active kitchen! I love walking into a home where there has been a bit of Christmas baking on the go. Buttery shortbread, brandy filled christmas cake or mince pies! Christmas dinner always smells good to – honey roast parnips mmmmmm. Though I also love a good christmas candle. Im looking forward to burning my Fireside Treat Yankee Candle – this may be the year i eventually get to toast some marshmallows on the fire…. I wanna make me some smores!

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Not so much – I only finish work at 7pm so we head to my Mum & Dads, usually with Dakota – for a bite to eat and some festive drinks before bed time. M & I have stayed there for the past 4 years on Christmas Eve. So I suppose that makes it a tradition 🙂 I think by this point the little Yorkshire puddings with rare beef and horse radish are a tradition too, good ol’e M & S Christmas goodies!

8. What tops your tree?

I feel like a christmas fraud admitting this – but we probably wont put a tree up at all this year…. With all the creatures, a christmas tree is a victim of much abuse if perched in the corner of our living room. Last year we got a sweet little potted tree we named Sven. However I was a bit of a plonker and forgot to water him during our hot hot Summer this year 🙁 Hopefully we can revive him by next year!

Bit off topic but think the answer there is nothing – no tree topper! At home we used to have a cute little Santa which cuddled the top of the tree, It hink he has since been replaced by an angel….

9. As a kid, what was the gift you always wanted but never received?

I dont know about this one – If a puppy & a pony count, they came in the end. Just many years down the line lol

10. What’s the best part of Christmas for you?

The run up to Christmas is always super fun – I dont know about you, but I always have that underlying giddy excitement bubbling from just around now, all the way up until the big day. Choosing presents, decorating work and home. I love the feeling you get when you know you have got a pressie some one is going to love.

Christmas also provides the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends, and suddenly my days off work are full of fun activities & days out. What better way to spend a lazy Sunday than over dosing on coffee and cake whilst listening to Christmas music, and picking up the last few festive gifts!

Those few days over Christmas were no one has anything to do are always fabulous too. Lots of family time – and some sneaky shopping too ♥ Im looking forward to spending some of this Christmas with my niece, while her Mammy has her hands full with baby number two 😉 I dont need an excuse to do silly kids stuff – but having someone to do it with certainly adds to the fun factor!

Love & thanks to Becky for creating this tag – I cant resist a good excuse to get my Christmas on!

I tag *Laura @ Fork & Good – cause shes so fun & witty I know shell do something fun with it – Louise @ Wee Ohana & Jools @ Yet another unfinished project Because we are equally as Christmas crazy this year 😀

*Emma – unless she changes her name, which she may do…..
