Zomato: Finding Good Food Everywhere

Anyone who’s in the business of trying to discover good food wherever they go will tell you that at some point, they need all the help that they can get. Most people discover new restaurants from walking around town or hearing about new restaurant openings, some hear good reviews from friends and decide to check them out. Sometimes, however, a treasure is uncovered from a smartphone app.

Gaming Realms, owners and operators of Pocket Fruity, have found that “Growth in mobile internet is one of the most powerful trends in the internet landscape and the global smartphone and tablet installed base is expected to exceed the PC installed base during 2013”. Many people now use their phones to access information more than any other platform, and it’s become an indispensible tool, especially for the foodie who’s always on the lookout for new places to try.

This is where Zomato comes in. Having already established itself as a superior resource for foodies with a website that catalogues the ins and outs of every food industry, the creators have also taken the brand to mobile phones. The Zomato app has everything a foodie could ever ask for: updated listings of local restaurants, updated menus, beautiful photographs, and accurate customer reviews. Like most other listing apps, Zomato relies on its community for the information it displays. Unlike most other listing apps, the folks running Zomato make sure that they respond to the feedback of their users in a timely manner, updating outdated information such as addresses and menus. It’s a great way to discover new places, commend great restaurants, or even warn other foodies if you find a restaurant that doesn’t quite live up to its promises. And the best part is, whether you’re on iOS or Android, the app is completely free!

Have you tried zomato yet? I know I will next time I am in London…. Hopefully Belfast will be added on soon!
