For The Love Of Chocolate – William Curley

I love chocolate.

I know – who knew?!… I bet there quite are a few chocolate lovers amongst us.

When I say I love chocolate, I don’t mean the family size bars of dairy milk that I have been known to sneak into the house when i’m feeling a little blue… I mean the artisan bits of loveliness that have started to dot our fancy corner shops, and luxury delis. AND we even have stand alone chocolate shops hiding amongst the streets of Northern Ireland… Who’d have though such a thing would be possible even 10yrs ago? Chocolate has come a long way 🍫

For The Love of Chocolate…

There’s one certain patissier and chocolatier i have been aware of for some time. I’ll admit that one of my first forays into the romantic word of dark chocolate was a hastily snaffled William Curley Sea Salt Caramel Mou after a long Christmas shift… Smooth, sweet, slightly salted caramel perfectly eveloped in the best of Amedei dark chocolate. 😍 It’s not hard to see why this gentleman has been awarded ‘Best British Chocolatier’ four times. William Curley is also one of only seven masters of patisserie in Britain. Quite the accomplishment since the MCA ( Master of Culinary Arts ) is the highest accolade awarded to chefs in the UK.

William Curley

When i found out that William Curley was part of the line up for a press trip to Fife I had been invited to, I could hardly contain my excitement. Not only are this creations incredible, but he is also an inspirational man.

William talked us through his journey from Methil, a small town in Fife – to top class patissier – chocolatier. Embellishing his story with chocolate treats that were inspired along the way. A life story dotted with chocolate. William Curley is a man who knows the way to my heart. And probably yours too.

We were treated to chocolates ranging from Millionaires Shortbread ( shown above ) inspired by his grandmother to Japanese Black Vinegar which is a nod to William’s wife Suzues Japanese heritage. Each one created with so much care and attention that each bite is an experience. That butter shortbread topped with sublime caramel ❤️ I would like to repeat that experience again soon please 👌🏼 In fact I would like to be treated to a plate like that every morning please! The team at welcometofife.com know how to start a weekend in style 😆

I already have a list as long as my arm of things I want to do on my next visit to London, but William Curley’s dessert bar has hopped its way to the top. Now – when can I make that journey? Have you been? Tempt me with your stories!

Many thanks to the wonderful team from welcomtofife.com for inviting me on a superb press trip to Fife. I had many wonderful experiences over the weekend, that I will be sharing with you over the next few weeks. As always, all content on this blog is my own. I only recommend food and experiences to you that I would recommend to my friends and family.
